Excellent tips for increasing your reading speed and get awesome results
Before I give you excellent tips regarding how to improve your reading speed by hundreds of percents, Let us have the smallest introduction possible; then if you wish you could get the tips for increasing your reading speed that are divided into two:
- Remarkable methods to make your reading faster and with a better comprehension.
- extremely useful tips for rapid reading from the computer’s screen
Increasing your reading speed is a process that activates both your eyes and few areas of your brain. For very fast speed reading you have to make your brain ready to work the speed it is built for, and that is almost always very much different from what it usually does.
Part of our tips deal with elimination of inefficiencies and therefore increase mind-eyes speed collaboration while improving the information’s comprehension, assimilation and use.
So, how to read effectively and rapidly:
#1. Establish yourself speed reading velocity challenge
To get extraordinary reading abilities means setting your mind to other state. This state is called calm awareness. It is held by practicing a simple trick: Always have an objective. You can start by having an objective of reaading and learning better. So how to start?
- Get to know your current position by getting to know how fast you read and that you do by simply count how many words you read in a minute.
- Statistically checked, one’s reading speed increases by 200% only by self tutoring.
So, tell yourself how fast you want to read. You should know that statistics has shown that only by practicing speed reading from a book, a person gets his speed twice as faster. Than, your minimum result must be 200% faster. Means that if you read now 250 words per minute, set yourself a minimum of 500 words per minute.
Before you start practicing, write this reading velocity objective on a piece of paper. write a number, that’s all. This is your starting point that will help you measure your improvement.
Take yourself three periods of five minutes each day for seven following days and check your progress every day.
#2. Scan the written material and set an objective
Before you start reading take your book and very fast just go over the pages so your eyes and mind will do three important actions:
- Transfer all the data to the back parts of your mind, the part that accumulate the data, every data.
- Elaborate the book’s general structure – watch carefully the title’s sizes, paragraph’s structure, the fonts’ etc.
After that has been done, tell yourself what are the exact things you want to know from that book. These things can be for example:
- Getting to know three new facts about a subject.
- Understanding the plot’s major lines of development.
- Being able to talk about this reading material fluently.
Once you have read the book, immediately write the answers to these questions in your notebook. This will ensure you won’t forget your new developed ability. Many parts within you will do everything they can to negate and not let you keep the clear understanding of yourself having these new abilities you have just acquired. Try not to let it make you forget what you’ve just learned and done. And if that is what happens, try to get yourself an excellent coach for helping yourself to read faster.
#3. Use a physical guide
Wondering around while reading is a common phenomenon caused by the conflict between our brain’s brilliant inherent abilities to the way we force it to work using tiny part of its ability. It gets bored and therefore seeks and creates interesting events, we call it ‘distractions’. To help you put him, it, your brain in the right course, all needed is a small pointing mean such as your finger or a pen. While reading, take it and point with it on the line you are reading, let your hand speed dictate your reading speed and not the contrary. Now, you’ll read much faster, understand better and remember better, so don’t get too surprised, just watch it happening and keep on!

How to Increase Reading Speed from Your Computer
- Is your computer your main working tool?
- Do you read from your screen more than four hours daily?
- Would you like to have all you assignments done faster using speed reading while working?
- Do you read fast enough to help yourself do it?
- Are there any thoughts passing through your mind right now, while reading this text, telling yourself why this is not possible and also why this is not possible for you?
These lines refer to your ability to increase reading speed especially on computers’ screens. If you answered honestly to the questions above than most chances are that you need and want to improve your ability to read fastr from screens. Let me than give you some tips and tricks to overcome habitual reading obstacles:
Most texts are read today using MS Word or Open Office software. Therefore you can control the texts’ appearance. I recommended you to do these changes:
- Set yourself a comfortable working zone:
- Set a nice warm light that is not reflected on your screen forcing your eyes to blink often.
- Treat your physical needs properly – drink some cold or hot beverage to let yourself feel better before doing a mental effort, not a plain one apparently.
- Have a comfortable but not too comfortable seat, one that will keep your body posture erect but not tensed.
- The screen has to be no less than 20 inches from your eyes, atoo long distance is better than a too short one. This way your field of view is larger, your eyes less tensed and your body posture more relaxed. So, you gain more physical energy from having your day spent in a more relaxed manner. Relaxation affects dramatically on your learning speed reading habits and reading behavior.
- Change texts’ fonts to Arial, it’s the best proven font to be read on computers. P.s that’s why it is amongst the few default fonts in internet applications. As strange as it may be heard, this speed reading technique will contribute really much to your speed reading’s practice.
- An important element that is a common block for rapid reading will be passed by simply decreasing the document’s fonts’ sizes down to 9 points. If this size is too small because of any reason, enlarge it back to a measure that is right for you. these will contribute a lot to improve reading speed and fluency
- The same applies for online speed reading. If you squeeze the control button while rolling the mouse’s roll allows enlarging or reducing screen’s resolution, letters become smaller or larger. Adjust it to your convenience. This will affect dramatically your ability to speed reading & comprehension.

Thanks for your great tip. But I have another problem also.
Actually I can read too fast (pronunciation might be bad but still I can read too fast). But I always need physical text such as books to understand what I read. I can’t understand so much reading in computer. And MS Word is most bad for me. I feel it too uncomfortable. So, I normally print materials I need to understand too deeply.
Do you have any suggestion in this specific problem?
Ok I really agree with prabib. This is the problem not just with you my friend, but for most of the people they can read pretty fast but as you say they can’t understand and pronunciation goes here and there. so for these kind of problem we must learn the pronunciation first to increase the speed in reading.

thank you

Many people want to learn how to read faster by attending a workshop or a seminar. These kinds of programs are often offered as two-day events, usually over a weekend.
Longer term courses to read faster are better suited for people who want to increase their reading speed by a factor of three times or more. In fact, someone who has taken a reading speed course and has practiced the skills consistently, could reach the level of being able to read 10,000 words per minute.
Thank you for the great information. I’ve always had trouble reading fast and understanding what I read afterwords. I don’t enjoy reading because I can read fast enough to keep me focused on what I read. I plan to try some of the tips you outline. Hopefully this we be a turning point in my reading speed.
Thanks!
